FAQ's

How Whole Body Cryotherapy Works?

Cryotherapy uses a nitrogen gas to lower the body's skin temperature to 30 degrees F for between 1-3 minutes.  Thermoreceptors in the skin tell the brain and the Central Nervous System to your body to go into "Survival Mode."  During this process your body's blood rushes to your vital organs (a process called vasoconstriction).  After your session ends, the body begins to warm up naturally (a process called vasodilation), sending oxygenated & nutritious blood back out to the body's periphery. This process provides the body with extra nutrients, rids the body of harmful toxins, produces collagen, & activates the body's natural cell regeneration cycle to produce newer, healthier cells.

Is the Nitrogen gas used safe?

Yes.  Nitrogen gas is a non-toxic natural gas.

What do you wear during Whole Body Cryotherapy?

Your own undergarments or shorts are required.  Thermal socks, thermal gloves, cryo booties, & a robe are provided by Evansville Cryo. *Robe to be removed upon entering the cryochamber.

How long does a session last?

Each Whole Body Cryotherapy session lasts 1-3 minutes long.  3 minutes is recommended to get the best results.

Do I need to shower before or after a Whole Body Cryotherapy session?

No.  The procedure is completely dry and does not leave your skin wet.  However, we do require you be completely dry upon entering the cryosauna.  Towels will be provided if needed.

Can I become sick or catch a cold from a Whole Body Cryotherapy treatment?

No. It actually helps boost your immune system.

How often should I do the therapy?

For best results, it is recommended clients get Cryotherapy 2-3 times per week but it is safe to do on a daily basis.

Cryotherapy

Why Cryotherapy?

Cryotherapy is the practice of using cold temperatures to promote natural healing and wellness that dates back to ancient civilizations.  Whole Body Cryotherapy is the modern application of that treatment which stimulates the same rejuvenating and refreshing benefits at a whole new level of cold in just 3 minutes.

Reaching temperatures as low as -130 degrees C (-202 degrees F), Whole Body Cryotherapy is a fast and effective alternative to traditional ice baths.  Cryotherapy participants say they experience a multitude of benefits and it is the driving force behind a new lifestyle of wellness.

History of Cryotherapy

In 1978, Dr. Yamaguchi of Japan started using freezing treatments of short duration on his Rheumatoid Arthritis patients' skin surface for pain management.  He found that he could significantly reduce their soreness and pain because of the rapid decrease of temperature of the outer layer of the skin led to the immediate release of endorphins and therefore less sensitivity to pain.

Continuing his research in the 1980's, Dr. Yamaguchi and his associates concluded that rapid short-term freezing of the skin's surface to a temperature of 32 degrees F while inside the Cryotherapy chamber

has a more beneficial effect on the human body than its gradual cooling while immersed in an ice bath, where the lowest temperature possible is 41 degrees F.

Today, everyone from elite athletes to weekend warriors to anyone desiring a range of health improvements and the anti-aging benefits are turning to Whole Body Cryotherapy regularly.
